10-Night BVI Yacht Charter Itinerary from Tortola
A ten-night stay in the British Virgin Islands changes the pace of a yacht charter. Instead of choosing between favorite islands or moving on after a single night, your group has time to slow down, spend two nights in North Sound, make the open-water passage to Anegada, and still enjoy Norman Island, Peter Island, Cooper Island, Jost Van Dyke and Tortola.
This sample 10-night itinerary begins and ends at Nanny Cay, Tortola, and is designed for guests who want broader BVI exploration without turning their vacation into a race from island to island.
Seven or Ten Nights: Which Route Fits Your Trip?
The extra three nights expand the route rather than simply adding more time at every stop. Compared with our main seven-night route from Tortola, this itinerary adds Anegada, Cane Garden Bay, and Soper’s Hole. Both sample routes spend two nights in North Sound. Choose ten nights for broader island coverage; choose seven for a shorter, more focused trip. Seven-night alternatives from Scrub Island or Virgin Gorda can also include Anegada.

Where Does This 10-Night BVI Yacht Charter Itinerary Start and End?
For this sample itinerary, embarkation and disembarkation are at Nanny Cay, Tortola. Your actual yacht may operate from another BVI base, so the final embarkation location should always be confirmed before arranging flights, ferries or private transfers.

Day-by-Day 10-Night BVI Yacht Charter Itinerary
Night 1 — Nanny Cay to Norman Island
Your BVI vacation begins almost as soon as you leave the dock. After meeting your crew, completing the yacht orientation and settling aboard at Nanny Cay, cross the Sir Francis Drake Channel for Norman Island.
By afternoon, you could already be snorkeling The Caves at Treasure Point, swimming from the yacht or enjoying your first Caribbean sunset from the deck. Norman Island makes an ideal first-night destination because it introduces you to the BVI quickly without requiring a long passage on embarkation day.
Depending on your group’s interests, the evening can be quiet and relaxed aboard or include a visit to the famous Willy T floating bar and restaurant. Your crew can help shape the first evening around the atmosphere you prefer.
Night 2 — Peter Island: Slow Down and Settle In
Peter Island is where the advantage of a longer charter begins to show. With only a short passage ahead, there is no reason to watch the clock.
Spend the afternoon exploring a quiet bay, snorkeling from the yacht, paddleboarding or kayaking along the shoreline, or simply finding your favorite place on deck and doing very little at all. A relaxed second day gives everyone time to settle into the rhythm of charter life before the itinerary begins moving farther east.
Night 3 — Cooper Island and Optional RMS Rhone
Cruise toward Cooper Island for a day that can be shaped around the interests of your group. Snorkelers may enjoy Cistern Point and nearby waters, while certified divers may want to discuss a dive on the RMS Rhone, one of the BVI’s best-known wreck sites.
Guests who prefer a slower day can spend more time aboard, swim from the yacht or go ashore at Cooper Island. The stop works particularly well because it combines water activities with a comfortable progression toward Virgin Gorda.
Night 4 — The Baths and North Sound, Virgin Gorda
Today brings one of the signature experiences of a BVI yacht charter: The Baths on Virgin Gorda. Explore the enormous granite boulders, pathways, pools and nearby Devil’s Bay before continuing along the Virgin Gorda coast toward North Sound.
Arriving in North Sound is especially rewarding on a 10-night itinerary because you do not have to leave the next morning. Instead of treating this remarkable cruising area as a one-night stop, you have time to experience it at a more relaxed pace.
Night 5 — A Full Day in North Sound
Today, you do not have to go anywhere. And that is precisely the point.
A second night in North Sound turns the area from an overnight stop into a destination. Spend the morning on the water, visit Bitter End Yacht Club or Saba Rock, explore another anchorage, linger over lunch or simply enjoy the yacht. Your captain can shape the day around your group’s energy rather than the need to reach the next island.
This unhurried day is also part of our seven-night Tortola sample. The ten-night route adds Anegada and further stops around Tortola while retaining this time in North Sound.
Night 6 — Anegada: A Different Side of the BVI
Leave the mountainous islands behind for the passage to Anegada, the BVI’s low-lying coral island. Its landscape, long beaches and sense of space feel distinctly different from the volcanic islands you have explored earlier in the charter.
Once ashore, your group might explore by taxi or rental vehicle, visit a beach, look for flamingos from appropriate viewing areas, or simply enjoy the island’s relaxed pace. Anegada is also well known for lobster, and your crew can discuss dining options and reservations when appropriate.
Because conditions affect the passage to Anegada, your captain will determine whether the trip is suitable during your charter.
Night 7 — Scrub Island or Marina Cay Area
After Anegada, return toward the central BVI for a night around Scrub Island or the Marina Cay area.
The choice allows the day to match your group’s preferred style. Scrub Island can appeal to guests who enjoy marina and resort amenities, while the surrounding cruising area can offer a quieter transition back into the island chain. Your captain will recommend the best overnight option based on conditions, availability and the experience your group wants.
Night 8 — Monkey Point to Jost Van Dyke
This can be one of the most varied days of the charter. Begin around Monkey Point, off Guana Island, where conditions may allow time for snorkeling before continuing west toward Jost Van Dyke.
Jost brings a completely different energy. White Bay is famous for its beach, clear water and casual beach bars, while other anchorages offer their own character. Spend the afternoon swimming, exploring ashore or enjoying the social side of the BVI before returning to the yacht for the evening.
Night 9 — Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
From Jost Van Dyke, the itinerary begins its gradual return toward Tortola without ending the vacation experience. Cane Garden Bay offers a broad beach, a lively shoreline and another opportunity to explore ashore.
After several days of island hopping, this can be an easygoing day: swim, walk the beach, enjoy the yacht or visit ashore. The relatively short cruising distance also leaves more of the day available for whatever your group most enjoys.
Night 10 — Soper’s Hole: Your Final Evening
Your final full day should feel like the culmination of the charter rather than simply another stop.
Cruise toward the western end of Tortola and Soper’s Hole, with time along the way for a final swim, snorkel or relaxed lunch aboard. Once settled for the evening, enjoy the last Caribbean sunset of the charter, perhaps followed by cocktails and a farewell dinner prepared by your chef.
It is a fitting evening to revisit favorite moments from the charter before the short return to Nanny Cay the following morning.
Day 11 — Return to Nanny Cay
Enjoy breakfast aboard and a final short cruise back to Nanny Cay for disembarkation. Your crew will confirm the timing based on the charter agreement and your onward travel arrangements.
Who Is This 10-Night BVI Itinerary Best For?
- First-time BVI charter guests who want to experience the major islands without rushing.
- Families or multigenerational groups who benefit from manageable cruising days and more time at each destination.
- Couples and groups of friends who value destination time and life aboard as much as the passages between islands.
- Guests who specifically want to include Anegada while retaining time for Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and other BVI favorites.
- Travelers deciding between a 7-night and 10-night charter who prefer a slower, more comprehensive experience.
How We Can Customize This 10-Night Route
A private yacht itinerary should reflect the people aboard. Examples of how this route might be adjusted include:
For divers: Allow additional time around the RMS Rhone or other suitable dive sites, depending on certification, conditions and yacht arrangements.
For beach lovers: Prioritize more beach time on Anegada, Jost Van Dyke or other suitable stops.
For active families: Build more snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking and watersports into the daily rhythm.
For guests who enjoy resort or marina amenities: Place greater emphasis on locations such as Scrub Island or North Sound.
For groups wanting fewer moves: Add a second night at a favorite location and remove a stop rather than trying to see everything.
Your charter advisor and captain can help balance your wish list with realistic cruising times, conditions and the strengths of the yacht you select.

For guests who enjoy a relaxed pace, 10 nights can be an excellent length. It allows more time at major destinations, makes Anegada easier to include, and reduces the pressure to move every day.
Neither is universally better. Seven nights works well for a classic BVI itinerary, while 10 nights provides more time for longer stops, Anegada and a less hurried pace.
Cruising time varies by route, yacht type, weather and sea conditions. Many BVI passages are relatively short, but the Anegada passage and other legs require more time. Your captain will plan each day around safe and comfortable operation.
